Once again, I couldn't keep my camera to myself. When I visited Shealyn for her post-partum meeting, she was just glowing with love. I had to take photos because her happiness was palpable! Plus, newborns are just plain cute

Newborn - Avery
An impromptu photo shoot of Avery - at just one day old! I had been her mother's doula and was able to document the 2-day event that was her birth. When I came back to the hospital to see little Avery and her mom, I couldn't help but snap a couple of pictures

Birth - Shealyn
Sometimes I get the pleasure of attending a birth as a doula and as a photographer. It's even more interesting when I get to do a maternity session (like the one I did for Shea) and then move on to shoot the birth! Shealyn had a nice and long labour, allowing for a lot of photo opportunities that really showed the ups and downs of bringing a life into the world. She had a wonderful support team and I think the love of her family really shows through in all of the pictures.
Once it starts to get to this point in labor (this was after 24 hours of
contractions with no pain medication), I tend to stop taking pictures
because my role as a doula is more important than my role as a
photographer

This was after her epidural fell out. It was then considered contaminated,
so they had to remove it and place an entirely new one

Couples - Mindy & Ben
Mindy is actually the sister of one of my friends, so it was a pleasure to get to shoot photos of her and her husband, Ben. I went over on the morning of the 4th of July and got some awesome pictures of them two (and of their dog!) Despite it being unreasonably hot, Mindy and Ben were troopers about taking some outdoor photos. These are some of my favourite shots from the session. (Some of the photos I uploaded to Flickr and some I uploaded straight to Blogspot - so there will be a few pictures that are better quality than the others)
I love this last one because they were playing that hand-slapping game and I just happened to have my camera ready to catch the shot
